Just because your mom is beautiful, doesn't mean she loves you. Just because your dad has money, doesn't make him gentle and kind. Trish's harrowing coming-of-age exemplifies a 'worst of times' in our society, a time in which parents were so busy playing out their own narcissistic, adolescent fantasies that many kids were left to fend for themselves, living by their own warped moral code. She copes by keeping her school lunch thermos full of Tequila Sunrise-and, most important, by hanging out with her best friend and lover, Linda, every chance she gets. With her famous TV producer father, leaving her and her siblings in the unsteady hands of their despondent, alcoholic mother, a former minor star/dancer, Trish clings even tighter to the only love she knows from her few pals on the street.
